Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Technical Specifications and Price


Earlier this year, we provided you with leaked specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Samsung officially unveiled the device yesterday and most of the features are what we expected it to have.
Some improvements on the flagship include a bigger screen, more powerful S Pen and a larger battery.

Here are its technical specifications.


The Note 9 measures 161.9×76.4×8.8mm and weighs 201g. It has a glass front and back (Corning Gorilla Glass 5) mounted on an aluminium frame.


The Note 9 has a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1440×2960 pixels (516 ppi).
The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

OS and Processor

The Note 9 runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) and one of the two models is powered by an Octa-core processor (4×2.7GHz Mongoose M3 and 4×1.7GHz Cortex-A55) based on the Exynos 9810 Octa chipset (EMEA region).

The other model is powered by an Octa-core processor (4×2.8GHz Kyro 385 Gold and 4×1.7GHz Kyro 385 Silver) based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset (USA, Latin America and China region).

RAM and Storage

The high-end version of the Note 9 comes with 8GB of RAM and 512GB internal storage. The other variant comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.


The Note 9 has Dual-Lens 12MP primary camera with dual aperture of f/1.5 or f/2.4 and f/2.4 with OIS, dual pixel PDAF and 12Mp, f/2.4 with AF, OIS and 2x optical zoom.

The primary camera can capture 2160p video at 60fps, 1080p at 240fps and 720p at 960fps.
The secondary (selfie) camera is 8MPm f/1.7 with AF and capable of dual-video, Auto-HDR and 1440p video at 30fps.

Network and Connectivity

The Note 9 comes with single SIM or Hybrid Dual-SIM capability. It supports GSM, HSPA and LTE network standards.

Communication with other devices is via:

  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot
  • Bluetooth 5.0, A2DP, LE, aptX
  • NFC
  • USB 3.1, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector


The device has a humongous 4000mAh battery, bigger than any of the Notes have ever had.

The 6GB RAM/128GB model will go for $999 (about Kshs. 99, 900), while the 8GB RAM/512GB model will go for $1,250 (about Kshs. 125,000).

The device is available on pre-order in the US and UK. We’ll update you as soon as it is availed in the Kenyan market.
