I have received news about the senseless killing of Arua Municipality MP, Hon Ibrahim Abiriga, and his bodyguard on the city’s outskirts. I have tasked security agencies to expeditiously find these killers and the nation will be updated soon. May Hon Abiriga’s soul rest in peace.

Even those who did support his political ideologies expressed shock and displeasure over the legislator’s heinous killing.
TRAGIC! Uganda’s insecurity affects upper &bottom rungs of society equally &brutally! Security systems are clearly dysfunctional. A new start necessary.
My thoughts &prayers go to Hon Abiriga’s family, relatives &friends.

Abiriga had a bodyguard just like Kaweesi and Maj. Kiggundu. You are only alive because nobody wants you dead. #RIPAbiriga

#RIPAbiriga no one deserves to go like this! No one, I don’t know the motive of your killers, but I hope it’s not political differences! If so, it’s bad, we have to tolarate our selves politically! God be with you in the after life!

All we saw was a clown in yellow out here to make us laugh. Sometimes the jokes annoyed us, but still we laughed…..at least in private.
Yet someone out there saw an enemy, deserving the most brutal of sendoffs from earth, surely, some things we’ll never understand!#RIPAbiriga pic.twitter.com/D2KYUmi2js

Hon. Abiriga was a member of National Resistance Movement and he was among vocal legislators behind scrapping of the presidential age limit from the Ugandan Constitution.
He will be remembered for his healthy sense of humor and obsession with the yellow colour.
